Google Top Spot After 48 Hours
When I started my tagtopics.com internet content experiment two days ago (22 Jan 08) I decided to use hubpages.com as the first of the social networking and article writing websites in the project. The site was very simple to use and the hub was up and running within just a few minutes, compared to several hours of html coding my own basic site. The hope was that a high traffic site like hubpages would get me a google positioning after a few weeks, and help me grow the website through search engine traffic. Search engine optimisation was always going to play a big part in the experiment, but I had no idea that hubpages was going to be such a powerful SEO tool. Just take a close look at the screen print from a google results page taken just two days after the hub was launched. Did you take a close look? The search keyword was internet content experiment and I will admit that I expected to get a good result for this phrase as this was not likely to be a highly searched term, but not after such a short period of time. The search was not conducted using quote marks (for exact word matching) which can sometimes be an easy way to get a higher ranking, as this is not a normal way for users to search google. SEO experts will tell you that it's not so hard to get a good position for an obscure term with low competition, but just take another look at the image. There were a massive 15,100,000 results returned for that search, and I was in first position on google after just two days! In such a short space of time my hubpages hub had got first position on google for a search result with over 15 million competition pages. For me personally, this is a fantastic result for the beginning of the experiment. But what can this tell you about your own hub and search engine optimisation? Hubpages has great traffic, google loves it and with a bit of SEO work you can submit a page that will get almost instant recognition. The most important search engine optimisation excercise is the title - this is the number one keyword tool and forms the URL (web address) for your hub. My title included the phrase internet content experiment, so this is now part of the URL for the article, http://hubpages.com/hub/the-tagtopics-internet-content-experiment. By keeping the hub relevant to the keywords and producing a keyword rich title, this amazing result was achieved with very little work. Think hard about your title, include your keywords and keep the article relevant to the hub title and your hubpages work could produce the same results for you! |
